Sunapee Receives School Emergency Preparedness Award

posted Jun 9, 2017, 11:38 AM by Jonathan Reed

Congratulations to the entire Sunapee School District! Yesterday, at the 13th Annual New Hampshire Emergency Preparedness Conference, the Sunapee School District was recognized with the School Emergency Preparedness Award. This recognition would not be possible without the efforts of everyone in our school community. The dedication to safety, along with the collaboration of our local police and fire, training practices, and events over the last two years have helped to keep our district prepared for emergency events that may arise in our district.

NH DOE is looking for your input

posted Jun 7, 2017, 11:40 AM by Jonathan Reed

The New Hampshire Department of Education would like your input on its DRAFT Consolidated State Plan

The Department has released a first draft of our Consolidated State Plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). We hope you will take some time to read through the plan and provide us feedback through our online survey. It is important for the NHDOE to hear from our stakeholders and we will use your feedback to inform our thinking and any future revisions to the plan. The plan can be found below which includes an introduction letter from Commissioner Frank Edelblut.

This plan, as required by law, is a response to several key questions from the U.S. Department of Education; however, it is important to note that it does not fully represent the vast work going on in New Hampshire's schools, districts, and communities. If you have additional questions or comments that are not reflected in the survey, please contact the NHDOE's main e-mail at ESSAcomments@doe.nh.gov.

The survey on the DRAFT Consolidated State Plan will be open until June 23rd at 4:00 p.m. After that date, the Department will review all feedback and determine what can be used to improve the plan. We will post all feedback received either through the survey or through any additional e-mails we receive by July 7, 2017.

Thank you for your time in providing feedback to our draft Consolidated State Plan!

Strategic Plan Community Survey

posted Jan 10, 2017, 8:44 AM by Jonathan Reed

---  The Sunapee School Board is developing a strategic plan for the District. The Board has convened a Strategic Planning Committee, which is made up of parents, community members, teachers, administrators and Board members, to develop this plan. The charge of the Strategic Planning Committee is to establish several long-term goals to ensure the maintenance of the quality of education in Sunapee, and to focus on areas in which we can become even better. In order to do this, the committee needs to analyze the current state of the district by studying demographic trends and by soliciting feedback from all of the stakeholders in our school district.

With NESDEC (New England School Development Council) as our facilitator, focus groups have been held with parents, teachers/staff, students, and community members, and, based on their feedback; district strengths and challenges for which there was a convergence of opinions have been identified.

We are asking community members to rank these strengths and challenges in order of importance from 1-5 with 1 as the highest and 5 the lowest. Please rank both strengths and challenges from 1-5. This information will allow The Strategic Planning Committee to prioritize our focus, and we can then develop goal statements to be used in the strategic plan.  The survey below is intended community members.  Parents, teachers, and students should monitor their email for a link to a distinct survey.
