Summer Soccer for MS Boys

posted May 10, 2018, 5:21 AM by Jonathan Reed

Dear Players, Parents, and Guardians:

This summer we will be continuing the 8v8 mini soccer league for middle school boys.  During the past four summers, the program has been a success with over 30 kids participating. We anticipate another big turnout and that there will be enough players for three teams again this year.   This summer the program will be run by Kevin Parsons. Some of you may recall Kevin from his standout soccer career in Sunapee or know him around town. Kevin has played at the collegiate level and has recently graduated from UNH with a degree in Physical Education.  In the fall he will be teaching Health and PE in Concord.

We plan to follow a format of three teams, playing 15 minute games rotating the teams each time.  A vs B for 15 minutes. Then A vs C for 15 minutes, then C vs B for 15 minutes, then repeat. This would continue through the summer with each team taking turns sitting the first game.  On the last night, we would have a two-hour jamboree and cookout. Games will be coached by high school varsity soccer players with an adult referee for the game. The goal in creating the team rosters will be to create three evenly-matched squads.

Dates & Time:

  • Sundays and Wednesdays (No Wednesday July 4)   July 1 - July 29        4:30-6:00pm

  • Alexander Field (lower field) at SMHS, 10 North Road

  • $30 - which includes performance jersey, field maintenance, insurance and a wicked good time!

(Note: Limited scholarships available, see Mr. Reed)

  • The expectation is that players are prepared to play at their games.  If athletes are not able to make it, they will notify the coaches at least 24-hours in advance. Coaches, referees, and organizers are donating their time; please be respectful of this, and communicate in a timely manner.

Contact Information:

If you are interested in playing, confirm by submitting your payment by Friday, June 8.  Make checks payable to “Jon Reed-Sunapee Soccer.”  Registration can be sent in with your child and passed in to Mr. Reed or Mrs. Flint.  At the elementary school, registrations can be given to Addison Reed (3rd grade) and she will pass them along.
