On Friday, November 15, 2013, the Sunapee Central Elementary School Fourth Grade Class traveled to the UNH Durham campus. While on campus the fourth grade attended the 17th Annual UNH Band Extravaganza.

The event showcases the UNH Wind Ensemble and The UNH Marching Wildcats. The Wind Ensemble  performance featured music by Percy Grainger, Michael Gandolfi and Karl King. The Marching Wildcats  featured music from their 2013 “Supercharged” Field Show. Tunes featured included “Jupiter from The Planets” by Gustav Holst, “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica and “All Along the Watchtower” by Bob Dylan.

This enrichment trip provides an opportunity to hear performances of a high caliber, while providing fourth  graders food for thought as they make their own choices for instrument selection in fifth grade. The event was coordinated by Dana Pruett, Sunapee Music Teacher, Skylar Aldrich, PSU Student Intern and  the SCES Fourth Grade Teachers; Katie Blewitt and Jessica White. The fourth grade students were excellent representatives of their community.

For further information about music in Sunapee please contact Dana Pruett.
