French Club Visits Montreal

Sunapee Middle High School French Club students spent a long chilly weekend in Montreal this February. We bravely tested our French language skills in a variety of settings, including a local hockey game, cross-country skiing by the St. Lawrence River, inner city snow tubing on Mont Royal, guided tours of the Pointe-à-Callière Museum, where we learned about the history of Montreal through archaeology, and of the Ice Villages, an hotel and restaurant complex sculpted entirely of ice and snow, The Biodome, shopping in the tunnels of the underground city and, of course, in restaurants to order the local delicacy, french fries with cheese curds and gravy, or poutine!  We are glad to be back in in warm New Hampshire, but are already counting down the days until the next Quebec winter carnival. -- Andrea Redican
