-- This year the Sunapee School District will be using the services of Concord Hospital and the Impact Baseline Concussion test. This test is a pre-test, and in the event of any head injury, this tool can be used to help physicians determine when it is safe for students to return to practice and competition.
We are requiring that all athletes take the Impact Baseline test. This test will be administered at Sunapee Middle High School by professionals from Concord Hospital. The test is taken on a computer, and will typically take between twenty and forty five minutes to complete. The school district will be paying for the test, so there is no cost to the students. We are currently working with Concord Hospital to pick a time and date to perform the testing and we should have confirmed dates by the end of next week. Information regarding privacy and consent forms for the test are below.
Parents will also need to attend one athletic information night. I will be hosting two athletic informational meetings; Wednesday, August 28th, and Thursday September 5th at 6:00 in the HS. Parents of high school athletes will meet from 6:00 to 6:30, and parents of middle school athletes will meet from 6:45- 7:30. If you have a student in both levels, just attend the more convenient meeting. If you have prior commitments and cannot make either meeting, please contact me to set up a time to go over this important information During the informational night, I will be reviewing the athletic handbook, explaining athletic procedures, and answering questions regarding the Impact testing requirement.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school, or via email. We have posted information including the required parental permission forms on the Athletics page. I am looking forward to seeing all of the teams compete this fall and have a successful and enjoyable experience in athletics.
