In this online lab, you'll be identifying twelve different igneous rock samples by their characteristics.
- Begin by reading through the Introduction. At the bottom of the page will be links to each of twelve igneous rock samples.
- You will also need the lab report form; I will email this to you.
- As you work through the lab, fill out the form and submit it when you are done.
#3 - If you read the introduction, this one should be easy!
#4 - Check out the close-up view.
#8 - It doesn't look like it, but this one has tiny air spaces.
#9 - It is not vesicular. Look carefully at the close-up view and see if you can see anything that stands out against the red background of the rock.
#11 - It's worth looking at the close-up view!
#12 - It looks kinda crumbly, doesn't it?
